The Portuguese Government deeply regrets the loss of human lives and the material damages caused by the earthquake that occurred yesterday, in the region of Elazig, Eastern Turkey.
At this moment of sad consternation, the Government of Portugal conveys its deep condolences to the Government and to the People of Turkey as well as to the victims’ families, wishing for a speedy recovery of the injured.
Portugal also offers its full support to the Turkish authorities, specially bearing in mind the complex rescue and search operations that are taking place with the purpose of rescuing the persons still trapped in the ruins.
